My Friends,
Over the years I have had many titles, but one of my favorites is Grandpa.
My oldest grandson, Auguste, is such a blessing. At the ripe old age of two, Auguste is torn between being a cowboy and a forklift operator when he grows up.
No matter what he chooses, my hope is Florida is the place where all his dreams can come true. And it doesn’t stop with him. I strive every day to make our state home to opportunity where anyone’s dreams can come true.
Four years ago, we set an ambitious goal—to create 700,000 jobs in seven years. Some said it couldn’t be done. Thanks to the efforts of the hard-working people of Florida, only four years later, we have created more than 600,000 private-sector jobs!
Just in the month of April, we created 33,000 private-sector jobs.
The work we do now is not just for the generations of today, but for the generations of tomorrow. As Florida continues to make leaps and bounds, we cannot forget there is still work to be done to give our children the best futures possible.
