Okay, now this is the real deal! Calamari prepared with an amazing glaze (can't share their secret, have to visit), Cod. PEI Mussels, the "Lobstah" roll, #1 server, fisherman combo and "wicked" good "Chowda". These are only a handful of their authentic New England seafood items on the menu, including Ipswich steamers. The hospitality was beyond personable, the entire staff, wanted to chat with the guests. 90 percent of the folks were from New England, and their love for their native seafood, was no longer. "OOOO", "Ahhhh", "Ummm", "your kidding", "remember this place and that place", "I can't breath, I'm so full". Cape Cod Fish House, is the real deal folks, and being raised in New England, we just had to share this "Gem" of a restaurant. Although it is not located in Estero, it is our neighbor, "Unity In the Community". Hope they open one just like it in Estero. Owner Joey, from Rhode Island, was a bit modest, "no pictures of me please", just my girls, and of course the food. Cape Cod Fish Co. is located at 15501 Old McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers. 313-6462. Tell them visitestero sent you, and notice their smiles.
VisitEstero met up with Dos Sabores, a new local community eatery, located on 3 oaks parkway, in the Winn Dixie complex. So, what makes this a “gem” of an eatery, 2 varieties (Dos Sabores), Mexican and Italian cuisines. Now who doesn’t like both these ethnic foods, or at least one or the other? Everyone!
When you arrive in the restaurant, the “welcome mat” popped right off the floor. Owner’s Fernando and Blanco Ochoa, from Mexico and El Salvador, are seeing their American Dream finally solidify. They opened their doors in April, and have been extremely successful with providing authentic Mexican and Italian entrees to the community. Blanca shared a very fun and interesting story of their traditional soup, "Menudo", which is served on Saturday and primarily Sunday mornings. This old traditional soup-like specialty was made specifically on Sunday mornings in Mexico, to revive the husbands, after celebrating the night before. And now the traditional soup is receiving a lot of attention, not as a “reviving” antidote, but because it’s the only place in town, who serves it up, on Saturday’s and Sunday’s Folks!!! Come happy or hurting, you don’t want to miss this rare delicacy. Blanca and Fernando, were beyond gracious to VE, with sharing a multitude of items from their menu, and what a menu! Every item was superb, from their pizza, soups, homemade Taco’s, Gordita and more. Dos Sabores is opened Tuesday – Saturday, 10-10, Sunday 10-9 and closed on Monday. Chef Ferando Ochoa, asked VisitEstero, to sincerely share his heartfelt message to the community, “I have been blessed, and I want to thank the community”. So stop by and mention VisitEstero sent you, and receive something special. |
