FORT MYERS, Fla. —The Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is hosting an international conference to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the start of the Holocaust in Hungary in 1944. The conference will take place Sunday, March 16 to Tuesday, March 18 at the Cohen Center, Rooms 213 and 214. The conference is free and open to the public. ... see FGCU

About a dozen fans waited for the trophies to arrive yesterday at the Rib City on Corkscrew Commons Drive in Estero. The fans kept coming, including a bus of about 40 members of a youth baseball team from Puerto Rico, regional manager Patrick Casey said.“This really helped our visibility for this location and we appreciate the opportunity to have the trophies here,” Casey said. “Of course, we have our local Red Sox fans and it is amazing how many Boston people there are in our area for spring training. We got really slammed for lunch today, but that was great.” Lifelong Red Sox fan Vik Chhabra, 37, of Estero, came by the restaurant on his lunch break to have his picture taken with the trophies. “You see the players lift these up on the field and you see the players walk through downtown Boston with them,” he said. “To be able to come in and stand here with them for a picture is surreal.”.. read the news-press entire story...here |
