(Fort Myers, Fla. – Jan 20, 2014) --- Lee Memorial Health System is proud to announce the opening of a new Convenient Care center in Fort Myers. Convenient Care offers an alternative to the emergency department for treatment of non-life threatening injury or illness with the expertise of skilled physicians in a state of the art clinic.
The new location at 16230 Summerlin Blvd., Ste. 215, will house 25 exam rooms, including 3 procedure rooms for laceration repair and abscesses. Convenient Care medical centers are ideal for sprains, strains, cuts, rashes, cold and flu, auto and work-related injuries, and school or sports physicals. They can also handle broken bones and x-rays as long as the bone has not broken through the skin.
“Convenient Care is helpful for individuals who don’t have a primary care physician, and it’s a great alternative to using the emergency department for non-life-threatening medical issues - especially during season,” explains Kris Fay, chief administrative officer of Lee Physician Group. “It gives the community immediate access to quality, hospital-affiliated health care provided by our trusted Lee Physician Group physicians and skilled nurses.”
Convenient Care centers are located throughout Lee County and offer high quality, walk-in medical care for adults and children in a cost effective, comfortable environment from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days per week (except some major holidays). Convenient Care is appropriate when: you have a non-life-threatening emergency; you're unable to get an appointment with your primary care doctor; or, you don't have a regular doctor. No appointment or referral is necessary, and most insurance is accepted.
Emergency care deals with illness or injury severe enough to require immediate medical attention. Please call 911 and use the emergency department (ED) if you are having trouble breathing, or think you are having a heart attack. You should also go to the ED if you have uncontrolled bleeding, severe abdominal pain, or sudden slurred speech or numbness, which could be a sign of a stroke.
If you question which treatment facility to use, call one of Lee Memorial Health System’s Convenient Care walk-in clinics. They can assist you in making the correct choice. For more information, visit www.LeeMemorial.org, or call (239) 481-4111.
