Ms. Bergermann, a native of Detroit, received her B.A. in Psychology with high honors and distinction from the University of Michigan in 1976 and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago in 1980. Her first law job was as the 1979 summer intern for the State's Attorney's Office, Juvenile Division, Homicide Unit, on the south side of Chicago. This eye-opening experience led her to the corporate world later that summer when she joined the legal department at ITT and became a staff attorney negotiating and drafting contracts for telecommunications systems. Vera continued this work in the New York City area for Northern Telecom and, later, UNISYS. While owning and managing a bed-and-breakfast in a historic district of Philadelphia, she earned her Master's degree in taxation from Widener University in 1988. Upon moving to Pittsburgh, she established her own tax practice. Relocating to Fort Myers in 1992, Vera worked for General Electric where she earned a national customs broker license and handled disputes involving GE imports. She passed the challenge of the Florida Bar on her first attempt in 1994. Attorney Bergermann opened her first office in downtown Fort Myers in 1996, the same year she became a FL Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Parenting coordination services were added in 2009. Bergermann Law Firm now serves family law and mediation clients throughout Southwest Florida-- Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Desoto counties.
