In my last article I discussed the fact that Christians are not Christians because they do good works but that Christians do good works because they are Christians. This is a crucial understanding of the Holy Scriptures.
But there is another very important truth from God’s Holy Word that we must understand about good works. God created each individual to do both general and specific good works.
It is clear that all followers of Jesus Christ are instructed to do general good works that are applicable to everyone. These general good works include reading the Bible, praying, serving others, worshipping God and many other good works.
What is overlooked by many is the fact that God created you uniquely to do specific good works. In Part I, I shared Ephesians 2:10, ESV, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Are you aware that God prepared specific good works for you to do, even before you were born? God put you here on this earth for a purpose. Jeremiah 29:11, ESV, tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Do you know God’s plan for your life? Do you understand His specific purpose for you while you are here on earth? God knows … and He wants you to know.
It has been my privilege over the past 10 plus years to develop a process to help individuals to discover and fulfill God’s purposes for their lives. Hundreds of people in Southwest and around the world are now engaged in God’s purposes for their lives through the GPS Life Journey Process. (www.gpslifejourney.com) These individuals are leaving a legacy of major impact in their communities and around the world.
