I love the tag line for this website, “unity within the community” for several reasons. First, it really conveys the message that we are a tight-knit group of people who help and serve and care for each other. Second, “Community” is the
middle name of the church I am privileged to pastor- Christ
Community Ministries (www.CCMchurch.com). At CCM, we’re all about helping and serving and contributing towards that goal
of creating “unity within the community”. It’s in our DNA as a church.
Our mission at CCM is “To Know Him and To Make Him Known”. The “Him” Jesus Christ. As Christians, we have a duty and responsibilities to not only proclaim the gospel message, but to demonstrate that love
of neighbor by seeking out and meeting practical needs. 1John 3:17-18 (NASB) says, “But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but indeed and truth.”
It’s hard to believe there is still poverty, and those who are in need in the United States, and even in our community of Estero. There are many needs, and CCM has been blessed to help some by providing food from our food pantry. Our supply is funded by those who attend CCM, local civic groups, and a unique relationship we have with our Olive Garden Restaurant at Coconut Point Mall. Every week, we receive between 100-300 pounds of their excess food. Instead of throwing away excess at the end of the evening, the left-overs are packaged and frozen for our weekly pick up. The food is then redistributed by our volunteers to the homeless, hungry, or local half-way houses. Meals are also provided to those with family members in the hospital, or families who have suffered a
death in the family. There are no strings attached to our help.
We realized quickly that the needs are great, and we are able to distribute every pound of food that
comes in. We actually had to buy two additional freezers to accommodate the growth of this ministry. The funds for that purchase were provided thanks to the Spring Run Charitable Foundation in Bonita Springs. We’re always looking for ways to meet practical needs. As we do that, we are given the opportunity to share spiritual truth. If you would like to partner with us, come be a part of what we’re doing at CCM. If you are able to help financially, you can do that on our website as well. At CCM we’re making a difference in
the community. We’re creating “unity within the community”. Take care and God bless.
